To maintain Salesforce certification credentials, all certified professionals must successfully complete annual release exams specific to their credential. To learn more about maintaining your credential, please visit this knowledge article.
Depending on the credential you hold, you may have anywhere from one to three release exams to complete per year. Please visit this knowledge article to understand how many release exams are associated with your credential. Release exams will be available according to the schedule below. Salesforce Certified Professionals will be notified by email when release training materials and exams become available.

*Salesforce Specialist and Designer release exams are published once per year and are included in the Spring release. For Spring '16, the Specialist release exams have a completion deadline of March 3, 2017. Designer release exams will launch in Spring '17.
The Programing Assignment and Essay exam are key components of the Salesforce Certified Force.com Advanced Developer and Salesforce Certified Platform Developer II credentials. By defending your position you prove your skill and expertise. To be eligible to sit for the Programming Assignment and Essay exam, you must first meet one of the following criteria:

To earn the Salesforce Certified Technical Architect credential, candidates must successfully complete the following three components:
Once candidates have completed the first two steps, they may register to appear before the review board. During the scheduled review board session, candidates will present the technical architecture for a hypothetical scenario to a panel of review board judges and respond to questions related to the solutions in an interview-style format. The Certified Technical Architect Review Board schedule is below. All candidates must appear in person for one the review boards listed below. This year, we have increased the number of review boards and have included some new locations. Please visit Webassessor to register.
